  1. International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) is annually celebrated across the globe on 6 April, to acknowledge the significance of sports and physical activity in our personal lives and communities worldwide. The theme for International Day of Sport for Development and Peace 2023 is “Scoring for People and the Planet”.
  2. The Government of India organises the Prevention of Blindness Week from 1-7 April every year to raise awareness about the causes and prevention of blindness.
  3. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on 1 April 2023, launched the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan 2023’ in Lucknow.
  4. On 2 April 2023, Vice-Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh assumed the position of Vice-Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) as part of a series of high-level changes in the Indian Navy.

  9. A 61-year-old plant mycologist in Kolkata has become the world’s first person to be diagnosed with a fungal disease that usually affects plants.

  11. Norwegian company Norled has successfully launched the world’s first ferry that runs on liquid hydrogen.
  12. ‘Courting India: England, Mughal India and the Origins of Empire’, a book written by Nandini Das, a professor of English Literature at the University of Liverpool has been released.
  13. Eravikulam National Park in Munnar, Kerala, which is home to the Nilgiri tahr, now features a new attraction: a fernarium located within the park.  
  14. The Ministry of Defence on 30 March 2023, inked a Rs. 1,700 crore contract with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) for procurement of next generation maritime mobile coastal batteries and BrahMos missiles.
  15. The 10th annual SLINEX-2023 bilateral maritime exercise between India and Sri Lanka has commenced on 3 April, 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
  16. Coal India Ltd. (CIL) on 31 March, 2023 announced that it has crossed the annual coal production target of 700 million tonnes (MT) in 2022-23.
